Style Tips on How to dress your Pear Shape (Women over 40's Outfit inspirations)

The main goal of dressing a Pear Shape is to draw attention to your torso and away from your hips and thighs. Create volume on your top half with statement shoulders, big prints, Bold colours and attached details. Adding these pieces will balance out your top half to your bottom.
I have put together some outfits for you to recreate to help and show you the best ways of balancing out your figure.

Ruffles are great for a pear shape! It adds volume to your top half and extends your shoulders to balance out with your hips. I love this one from Marks and Spencer! So feminine, great to wear for days out, also professional to add to your work-wear and great for dinner dates with the girls or your partner. Adding these boot-cut jeans will help to offset wider thighs and hips providing balance for your pear shape proportions. This Trench Jacket is also perfect for the pear shape because it brings in your waist and flares out at the bottom, with the added pleat detail on the top half will widen your shoulders too!. I've paired it with some flat shoes for a casual look, you can also wear heels to elongate your legs or wear boots. For accessories I have added this medium size bag from Newlook which is the perfect size for shopping and can carry all your essentials.

Floral top / Sleeveless blazer, £25 / Blue jeans / Open toe shoes / Faux leather purse / Gold plated jewellery

Wearing a Printed Top on your top half makes your bottom half appear smaller. I have chosen this Floral off the shoulder top from Marks & Spencer because the straight neck-line shows off your shoulders to draw the attention on your top half and elongates your neck! Wear darker pants on your bottom half, I went for a cropped fit & flare for a summer look. This outfit is perfect for those summer day lunch meet-ups with your friends or going shopping in a mall where no jacket is needed! I added this long soft pink waistcoat for another layer, I picked the same colour from the top which works perfectly!. My tip for you: When you want to add another layer on top whether its a blazer or cardigan pick any colour from the printed top. The long blazer will cover your hips and balance out your hips to your shoulders. I decided to go for these slide on sandals for comfort and also very stylish and on trend. A tan bag is great with this look because it keeps your outfit summery and a small cross over bag is great for those long and fun shopping trips they keep your hands free for more shopping!, it also represents the colour in the top!.

Wearing stripes horizontally is great for a Pear Shape! The horizontal stripes flattens your hips and draws the attention to your top half which helps to balance out your proportions. I've added this scoop neck vest top with a cut out strap detail to show some skin which also makes your top half appear wider! I've gone for this flowly top because you can wear it tucked inside your skirt or just let it flow over either way will look great for this body shape. For the outerwear I went for this fitted structured denim crop jacket which sits right on your hips. The structured shoulders will make your shoulder appear wider and the fitted waist line will create curves. For accessories I went for this small fringe black bag, keeping in the colours but the added fringe creates a statement and makes it fun. Finish off with some simple sandals that tries around the back of the foot and statement earrings for everyday and a night out.

The wide leg pants are perfect for a Pear Shape! Smooths over your hips to keep your bottom half at the same width. I added this v-neck long-line vest, great to wear over your trousers or tucked inside,  you can also do a half tuck where you just tuck the front inside and leave the back and sides out very chic! Adding this statement pink cropped blazer will bring fun to this outfit and also replaces that black blazer that can seem like a repeated uniform... let's add some colour into your wardrobe! The long v-neck neckline will elongate your body. I went for this black and white medium size bag it's a great size to fit all your paper work and those important books. Wearing a belt around your waist will bring in your waist in and create curves. These sling back flats is perfect for work very stylish, comfortable and the pointed toe is a must have for wide leg pants.
